This morning was another wet pack up. With a good amount of dew and some mist, we also ended up in rain gear for the first part of the ride. Our destination today was supposed to be James Kipp Recreation Area in Winifred but we ended up in Lewistown instead. The main reason was a lack of towns and needing to find some food prior to setting up camp for the night. Montana is beautiful but 90 miles and no other crossroads between “towns” can be a challenge. Neither Steve or I have ever ridden in anything close to being that remote (and zero cell service too). Even with the change in plans, we still topped 400 miles today - the longest planned for the trip.
Entering MT this morning.
Typical Montana “town”, population 5...
Crazy cloud formations on the ride today.
Our “free” camping for tonight.
Notice the expedition vehicle in the background - yes, we met the owner and got a tour.
The XP Camper. The top part is made out of an insulated “icebox”. The owner said they have camped in -5 degree weather and were comfortable and had a hot shower in the morning.
Tomorrow we arrive in Glacier.
